|Position:||Volunteer Assistant Coach|
Ray Noelte was named a volunteer assistant coach for the UC San Diego softball program in September 2018.
During the 2018-19 season, Noelte helped the Tritons to their first West Region title and NCAA Championship appearance since 2012. UC San Diego claimed the title in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off win over top-seeded Concordia Irvine during the NCAA West Super Regional in Irvine.
It was also a thrilling road to the Super Regional, as UC San Diego overcame the losers bracket while hosting the NCAA West Sub-Regional. The Tritons beat conference rival Chico State twice on the final day to advance to the Super Regional.
During the regular season, Noelte assisted the Tritons to their first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular-season crown since 2011. Noelte and the rest of the Triton coaching staff were ultimately named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) West Region Coaching Staff of the Year for their efforts throughout 2018-19.
Noelte came to the Tritons with over 12 years of softball coaching experience through the 18U travel ball level. Most recently, he served as the head coach for the San Diego Renegades 14U.
Noelte has coached seven different teams throughout the years, starting his career in 2006 with the Rancho Penasquitos 10U. He began as an assistant coach before assuming the role of head coach the next season.
As an 11-year member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Noelte has received 240 hours of formal coaching education from the NFCA Coaches College, participated in over 100 coaching clinics, earned an NFCA 4-Star Master Coach certification and served as the travel ball representative to the NFCA Coaching Education Committee.
Noelte obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts. He then went on to earn his MBA locally from National University.
Noelte currently resides in San Diego.
