No. 17 Tritons Drop Contest to No. 12 Loyola Marymount, 12-6
LA JOLLA, Calif. — The No. T-17 University of California San Diego women’s water polo team dropped a home game against No. T-12 Loyola Marymount, 12-6, on Friday evening at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
The loss was just the Tritons third in their last 14 home contests, as it snapped a four-game winning streak against Loyola Marymount (4-5).
After a back-and-forth first quarter that saw UC San Diego (4-6) fall behind 3-2, the Tritons trailed at halftime, 5-3, and faced a 10-4 deficit at the end of the third quarter.
UC San Diego returns to action next weekend, as it competes in UC Irvine’s Barbara Kalbus Invitational Feb. 22-24. The Tritons first contest will be against California on Friday, Feb. 22, beginning at 1:45 p.m.
