Natalie Caraway Named CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week
SAN RAMON, Calif. — University of California San Diego senior Natalie Caraway has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
It is Caraway’s first-career weekly conference honor.
A native of Granite Bay, Calif., Caraway placed first the high jump and took second in the triple jump at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge, leading the Triton women to a first-place finish.
The senior posted provisional-qualifying marks in both events, clearing 5-feet, 6.50-inches (1.69-meters) in the high jump, and recording a leap of 38’10.50” (11.85) in the triple jump.
Caraway’s mark in the high jump was good for seventh-best all-time in UC San Diego program history, eclipsing her previous best of 5’6”. In addition, the senior’s triple jump mark was the program’s ninth-best all-time.
UC San Diego resumes action this Saturday, March 16, at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Scoring Meet hosted by Point Loma.
