Franke, No. 17 Tritons Hit Stride in Wins Over Brown, No. 25 CBU
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The No. 17 University of California San Diego women's water polo team came out sharp following a 20-day layoff to earn victories over Brown, 14-8, and No. 25 California Baptist, 14-4, on Saturday at CBU's Lancer Aquatics Center.
Sophomore Ciara Franke scored a total of eight goals in the two victories, including a career-high five goals in the win over Brown to begin the day, while sophomore goalkeeper Bennett Bugelli tallied 20 saves total.
UC San Diego (13-12) has now won six of its last seven games.
Freshman Maddie Bockman scored a career-best three goals in the road win over California Baptist, as senior Chanel Schilling, sophomore Robyn Carter and sophomore Taylor Onstott recorded two goals apiece.
The Tritons resume action next weekend, as they hit the road for a three-game Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) road trip against Cal State Monterey Bay (April 5), Cal State East Bay (April 6) and Sonoma State (April 7).
