Tritons Tied for 6th After Opening Day of Hanny Stanislaus Invitational

TURLOCK, Calif. - Following Monday's two rounds of play, the University of California San Diego men's golf team is tied for sixth place in the 17-team field at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.

UC San Diego shot rounds of 292 and 293 for a 585 total, 9 over par on the par-72, 6,641-yard course at the Turlock Golf & Country Club.

Junior Justin Woo (San Diego/Torrey Pines) is the top individual for the Tritons, tied for 12th with an even par 144 through 36 holes of play. Woo shot a 2-under 70 in the opening round and followed with a 2-over 74 in round two. His 70 was the low round for the team Monday.

Freshman Elliot Bunyaviroch (76-71--147) and Junior Hayden Hui (74-73--147) are both tied for 22nd in the 91-player field. Sophomore Ryan Vaughan (74-75--149) is tied for 37th and junior Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS) (74-77--151) is tied for 54th.

Chico State, ranked 10th nationally, leads by 21 strokes over its nearest competitors. The only team under par, the Wildcats fired rounds of 277 and 282 for a 17-under 559. Simon Fraser, ranked 20th, and host Stanislaus State are tied for second, each with a 580 (+4).

Josh McCollum of Chico State shot a pair of 67's and is atop the leader board with a 10-under 134. Cal State East Bay's Will Barnett is second with a 5-under 139 and three players are tied for third at 4 under.

The third and final round gets underway Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Action can be followed with live results.
