The No. 13 University of California San Diego softball team has earned the West Region's second seed and will host the West Regional 2 from May 9-11. Competing at the Tritons' West Regional 2 will be two California Collegiate Athletic Association foes, as well as a Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponent. Chico State (29-15) nabbed the third seed in the West Region, Sonoma State (35-18) earned the sixth seed, and Central Washington (33-18) came away with the seventh seed. 

The tournament is a double-elimination format. UC San Diego's first game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, as they prepare to take on Central Washington. 

Regional play will take place at 16 sites from May 9-11. West Regional #1 – featuring the first, fourth, fifth, and eighth seeds, will be held at Concordia Irvine. Following that, the remaining teams will compete in the super regionals from May 16-17. The tournament culminates with the finals, which will be held from May 23-27 in Denver at the Regency Athletic Complex.

The UC San Diego Athletics Department, in conjunction with Triton Tide, has purchased 100 complimentary tickets each day during the West Regional #2 for UC San Diego students. In addition, on Thursday, the first 25 UC San Diego students in attendance will receive a free Triton Adidas snapback.

• From Interstate 5, Exit Genesee Ave.
• Head west on Genesee
• Turn left on Torrey Pines Rd.
• Turn left at the next signal (Northpoint Drive - UCSD North Campus Entrance)
• Continue through 2 stop signs, as the road curves to the right it becomes John Hopkins Drive
• Park in Hopkins Parking Structure. Triton Softball Field is directly north of the parking structure.
• Parking permits are required (Mon-Fri only) and can be obtained from the Northpoint information booth (To the right of the second stop sign on Northpoint Drive are parking permit machines.) or any level of Hopkins Parking Structure
