OAKLAND — University of California San Diego women’s water polo head coach Brad Kreutzkamp has been named Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Co-Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Kreutzkamp shares the award with Fresno Pacific head coach Brian Suhovy, after the teams held the top two seeds in the conference tournament and met in the WWPA Championship Final. The 10th-year head coach earns the honor for the second-consecutive year and fifth time in his career.

Kreutzkamp led UC San Diego to its seventh-straight WWPA Championship and its third appearance in the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship Quarterfinals in the last seven years.

It was the Tritons' final season as a member of the WWPA, as the program is set to join the Big West Conference in 2020. UC San Diego went out by winning its 45th-consecutive WWPA contest and 17th-straight WWPA tournament game.

Senior Chanel Schilling was named WWPA Co-Player of the Year, while sophomore Ciara Franke and sophomore goalkeeper Bennett Bugelli joined Schilling on the All-WWPA First Team. Sophomores Taylor Onstott and Grace Pevehouse were second-team selections and Maddie Bockman was named to the WWPA All-Freshman Team.

The Tritons won the WWPA Championship behind tournament MVP junior Reilly Gallagher, all-tournament first-team selections Schilling and Pevehouse as well as second-team choice Onstott.

UC San Diego (22-14) finished the 2019 season ranked No. 14 in the final Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 25.
