Tritons Open Play at Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Playing as the lone NCAA Division II program alongside 12 DI squads, the University of California San Diego men's golf team sits in 11th place following the opening day of play at the Bill Cullum Invitational Monday. The tournament is being hosted by CSUN at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Ventura County.

UC San Diego has a two round total of 591 (+15), shooting a 293 in the first round and a 298 in the second.

The top player for the Tritons thus far is Hayden Hui. The senior carded a 74 (+2) in round one and a 70 (-2) in round two, finishing at even par and rocketing up 22 spots in the standings into a tie for 31st. 

San Diego State leads with a 546, 30 under par on the par 72, 6,944 yard Wood Ranch layout. The Aztecs' nearest competitor, Utah State, is 17 strokes behind.

Grand Canyon, the University of San Diego, and Weber State are also under par.

SDSU's Puwit Anupansuebsai leads the 100-player field with a 129 (-15). He shot rounds of 63 and 66.

The third and final round tees off at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
