Tritons Hit the Water for the First Time This Fall Hosting Row for the Cure
MISSION BAY, Calif. – The University of California San Diego women’s rowing team returned to the water for the first time this fall, hosting its 19th annual Row for the Cure in partnership with Susan G. Komen. The event was a lively success, raising funds to assist breast cancer patients.
The Tritons opened the morning with three crews in the Women’s Open 8, taking on crews from San Diego State, LMU, and the University of San Diego. The Tritons’ A squad crossed the finish line with a time of 13:07, which ranked fifth among participating teams. UC San Diego B recorded a mark of 13:50 for eighth. The Tritons’ C team rounded out the action, posting a time of 16:12 and finishing ninth.
UC San Diego faced off with the Aztecs, Lions, and Toreros once again in the Women’s Open 4+. The Tritons’ A team had UC San Diego’s top finish, with a time of 14:51 to finish seventh. UC San Diego B came in ninth with a mark of 15:01, while the C squad followed closely behind in tenth with a time of 15:04.
The Tritons will be back in action again on Nov. 10. Returning to Mission Bay, UC San Diego will participate in the San Diego Fall Classic.
