Triton Men and Women Post Good Marks at SDSU Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's and women's track & field teams took part in the San Diego State Aztec Invitational on Saturday and had plenty of good marks on the day that included two NCAA provisional marks.

On the men's side, Daniel Anderson had one of those NCAA provisional marks with his first place finish in the 800 meters in a time of 1:52.59. Freshman Casey Ryan continued to impress in only his second outing of the season since the basketball season concluded, finishing fourth in the high jump with his mark of 6'8.75”.

On the women's side, Jillian Sola and Lauren Anderson each won their respective events, as Sola's distance of 114'9” in the discus while Anderson's toss of 40'7” won the shot put.

Laiah Blue competed in her first-ever 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 24.80 which was not only a NCAA provisional mark but the third fastest time in UCSD history. She also had a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 13.86 seconds, just one-hundredths of a second off her school-record time that was set last week.

The Triton men and women will have a few student-athletes competing in next week's Point Loma Heptathlon/Decathlon, but the full team will not return to the track until the Cal/Nevada Championships on March 30-31.
