The Tritons improve to 8-7 overall while climbing to 6-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. UCSD will begin a six-game road trip on Friday at Cal State Monterey Bay (7-3, 4-3 CCAA) for a game set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.

UCSD set a season-high in points scored with its 87 points, eclipsing the 86 points scored during the win against Seattle Pacific, 86-67, on Nov. 16.

Setting the pace for the Tritons was senior guard Emily Osga with 18 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Four other Tritons scored in double digits, including senior guard Daisy Feder with 16 points. Feder also had four rebounds, four assists and a steal. Sophomore forward McKennan Bertsch contributed 14 points along with four rebounds and a steal. Junior forward Erin Dautremont and redshirt freshman center Emily Morris both had 10 points. Dautremont also had four rebounds and a steal while Morris grabbed two rebounds and an assist.

Junior forward Lauren Godde of the Warriors scored a game-high 23 points and shared the game-high in rebounds with junior forward Erin Godde with eight. Lauren Godde also had a steal.

UCSD earned its win on the strength of better shooting from all areas of the court. For the game, the Tritons went 34-for-67 (50.7%) from the paint compared to the Warriors' 23-for-67 (34.3%) effort. From the arc, UCSD made 10 of 28 (35.7%) whereas CSUS only converted five of 23 (21.7%). Though both teams made the same number of free throws, the Tritons went 9-for-12 (75.0%) while the Warriors made nine of their 15 attempts (60.0%).

Ahead with a commanding 19-point, 50-31 lead at the half, the Tritons continued the strong offense they showed in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

The highlight of the second half was a 7-0 scoring run, beginning with back-to-back layups from Bertsch at the 14:40 and 14:28 marks, respectively, with the second layup putting the Tritons up, 71-44. The run was capped off by freshman center Taylor Hirz's layup with 12:43 remaining and made the score, 74-44, to represent UCSD's largest lead of the game.

With their secure lead midway through the second half, several bench players gained valuable minutes in the second half. Most notable was Morris, who doubled her previous career-high of five points with Saturday's game. In her 12 minutes of work, Morris scored seven of her 10 points in the final nine minutes of the game.

In spite of three ties within a minute early in the first half, the Tritons never let the lead change hands. With a 6-6 tie at the 17:14 mark, Bertsch scored a go-ahead layup to make the score, 8-6, and the Warriors were not able to even the score again.

To ensure the Warriors would not catch up, the Tritons went on a 9-0 run, which commenced with Osga's three-pointer with 16:21 to go in the half and made the score, 14-8. The run ended on sophomore guard Miranda Seto's layup, which gave UCSD a 20-8 lead at the 14:37 mark.

The Tritons did not stop there, however. After Lauren Godde's trey stopped the UCSD run and returned the deficit to nine points, 20-11, with 13:30 remaining in the half, junior guard Megan Perry's jumper with 12:56 left jumpstarted a 10-0 run, in which Feder drained two three-pointers before concluding with Dautremont's layup at the 10:11 reading.

A jumper by Dautremont brought the first-half lead to as large as 20 points, 34-14, with 8:59 prior to the intermission. For the rest of the half, UCSD's lead hovered in the teens. Morris scored the first frame's final points on a layup with 51 seconds on the clock, putting the Tritons ahead, 50-31, going into the half.

The Warriors (2-11, 1-7 CCAA) will travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-8, 3-5 CCAA) for a Friday game set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
