LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego’s women’s water polo starting goalie Courtney Miller has been named Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) KAP7 Player of the Week. The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon.
Miller helped lead the Tritons to a perfect 3-0 weekend, including a top-10 win that helped move them to No. 13 in this week’s national rankings.
The freshman posted 12 saves, two assists and one steal in the 9-7 upset victory over No. 9 Long Beach State at Canyonview to begin the weekend.
The Honolulu native came away with tournament MVP honors after UCSD took the title of the inaugural CCAA Championship Invite with wins over Cal State Monterey Bay (14-3) and Cal State East Bay (9-8).
With a weekend high 13 saves against CSUEB, Miller finished up with 31 saves. Her season total now stands at 293, good for No. 2 in the program’s Single Season top-10 record book.
Miller received Player of the Week honors earlier this season, on Mar. 20, after leading UCSD to a 4-0 showing at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational, totaling 38 saves in four full games of play.
UCSD will close the regular season this weekend, hosting Cal State San Bernardino on Friday and finishing up at No. 8 San Diego State for the 12th annual Harper Cup on Saturday.
