SAN DIEGO – UC San Diego men’s water polo goalkeeper Cameron Ravanbach (La Jolla/La Jolla HS) was named a Star of the Month by the San Diego Hall of Champions for his success in the pool in the month of November.

Ravanbach was instrumental in helping the Tritons win their 16th Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship and earn a spot at the 2013 National Collegiate Men’s Water Polo Championship for the 12th time in school history.

At the WWPA Championship, the junior recorded 37 saves in two wins and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Ravanbach totaled 21 blocks, a career high that also tied the UCSD record for saves in a game, in an 8-4 semifinal win over Santa Clara. In the championship match against top-seeded host UC Davis, he amassed 16 saves in a 6-4 decision.

The La Jolla native was named All-WWPA First Team this month after recording 299 blocks in 2013, the second highest single-season total in UCSD history. He currently sits in seventh on UCSD’s all-time career saves list with 557 saves.

UCSD ended the season ranked 10th nationally and 14-14 overall after competing at the 2013 NCAA Championship on Dec. 5. The Tritons fell to St. Francis College 6-5 at the national tournament, despite 17 saves from Ravanbach in the cage.
