LA JOLLA, Calif. - University of California San Diego men's volleyball junior opposite Tanner Syftestad earned VolleyballMag.com All-America honorable mention on Tuesday.
The Sacramento product was one of 24 standouts from around the country to garner honorable mention, with 12 student-athletes each making it onto the national website's first and second teams.
A second-year team captain, Syftestad finished fifth in the country at 4.21 kills per set during a tremendous third season on the La Jolla campus after spending his first year out of El Camino Fundamental High School at Chico State. He was one of only five players at better than 4.00 kills per game, and also ranked third nationally in both points (4.92) and attacks per set (9.33).
Earlier this postseason, Syftestad was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Second Team, and became the very first Off the Block Division II Player of the Year.
After nearly four decades as a print publication, the former Volleyball Magazine became strictly digital and rebranded as VolleyballMag.com in August of 2016.
