SAN RAMON, Calif. — University of California San Diego senior sprinter Paul Doan (San Diego/St. Augustine HS) and freshman pole vaulter Evan Shimasaki have been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's track and field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

It is the fourth-career honor for Doan, who also earned track athlete of the week accolades earlier this season on Feb. 27. For Shimasaki, a native of Seattle, Wash., it is his first-career honor.

Doan continued his stellar season last weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, taking first in both the men’s 100 and 200-meter as well as anchoring the Tritons 4x100 relay team to a second-place finish.

The San Diego native set a new school record in the 200, crossing the finish line in 21.10-seconds, which is also a solid provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships in May.

A graduate of St. Augustine High School, Doan finished the 100 in 10.55 and led the Tritons 4x100 relay team to a second-place finishe with a time of 41.02.

Shimasaki cleared 15-feet, 9-inches (4.80-meters) in the pole vault to tie for third place at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and also became a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships.

UC San Diego resumes action this weekend, as it hosts the Triton Invitational on April 13-14 at Triton Track & Field Stadium.
