IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 12 University of California San Diego women's water polo team dropped a tough road contest at No. 9 UC Irvine, 10-5, on Friday night at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

Junior Chanel Schilling, sophomore Jessee Ransone and the freshman trio of Ciara Franke, Taylor Onstott and Grace Pevehouse scored one goal apiece for UC San Diego (20-11, 4-0 WWPA).

Junior Shelby Stender added an assist, while sophomore goalkeeper Reilly Gallagher finished with four saves and three steals.

The Tritons fell behind 4-2 after the first quarter and trailed 7-4 at halftime.

Next up for UC San Diego is the 17th annual Harper Cup showdown with 21st-ranked crosstown rival San Diego State in primetime on Friday night, April 20. First sprint on Senior Night at the Canyonview Aquatic Center is set for 6 p.m. The Tritons retained the cup a year ago through a 10-6 decision, lifting it for the first time at SDSU's Aztec Aquaplex.
