OAKLAND, Calif. - University of California San Diego women’s water polo head coach Brad Kreutzkamp has been named Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday.

It is the fourth time Kreutzkamp has earned the honor in nine seasons leading the Tritons, as he also received the accolade in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Kreutzkamp led UC San Diego to a 24-12 overall record this season, including 11 victories over ranked opponents, and won the WWPA Championship tournament title for the sixth consecutive year.

Kreutzkamp vaulted into second place all-time in victories at UC San Diego, passing former head coach Larry Sanders’ 180 total wins. He won his 200th career game in the WWPA Championship final, defeating Cal State East Bay, 12-2.

The Tritons’ season came to a close after suffering a hard-fought overtime loss to No. 17 Wagner, 10-7, in the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship Opening Round on May 8. UC San Diego was ranked as high as tied for No. 10 during the season and finished the year at No. 16.

Seven Tritons earned All-WWPA honors, including three first-team selections in sophomore goalkeeper Reilly Gallagher, junior center Chanel Schilling and junior attack Krista Schneider.

Freshman utility Taylor Onstott (Carlsbad/Carlsbad HS) was named the WWPA Newcomer of the Year and joined senior Kayla Fedler on the All-WWPA Second Team. Grace Pevehouse earned All-WWPA honorable mention, while Onstott and fellow freshman Ciara Franke (San Diego/La Jolla HS) each landed on the WWPA All-Freshman Team.
