PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of California San Diego men's rowing team was unable to compete on the final day of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships due to inclement weather on Mercer Lake on Sunday.
UC San Diego's Varsity 8 crew was set to compete in the 4th-Level Final on Sunday. The Tritons placed sixth in Saturday's Semi-Final 3, crossing the finish line in 6-minutes, 14.54-seconds.
The Second Varsity 8 crew's 4th-Level Final competition was also canceled on Sunday, as was the Third Varsity 8's 3rd-Level Final. UC San Diego's Second Varsity 8 boat placed fifth in Saturday's Semi-Final 4 with a time of 6:19.50, while Third Varsity 8 finished fifth in Repechage 1 on Friday with a time of 6:10.38.
The University of Washington earned the Ten Eyck Award for the overall team championship for the second consecutive season, compiling 211 total points. Yale finished second with 199 total points, while California took third overall with 196 points.
The Tritons will conclude the 2018 season at the Henley Royal Regatta in Thames, United Kingdom, June 29-July 8.
