The Triton Cheerleaders are a co-ed game day squad. The number of males and females on the team varies from year to year. The cheerleaders show their support for Triton Athletics and showcase their routines at various athletic department and community events throughout the academic year.

Cheer, Dance, and Mascot appearances are available upon request with a MINIMUM of 3 weeks' notice. Due to the time demands on the students we cannot guarantee that each request will be fulfilled. Priority will be given to academic and athletic-related duties.
All requests for appearances will be left to the discretion of the UC San Diego Intercollegiate Athletics Department. The department reserves the right to refuse any appearance that conflicts with the best interests of the University and its students.

Michelle Critzer, Head Coach
Michelle Critzer is a proud alumni of UC San Diego. She currently works for Universal Cheerleaders Association, the leading organization in providing educational training for college and high school cheerleaders. during the year, she is privileged to be sent coast to coast as well as internationally as a Judge or instructor. Her coaching philosophy is to train game day cheerleaders, create school spirit and an exciting atmosphere at games and appearances. She has a background in gymnastics, high school cheer, and competitive cheer at both a club team, as well as College. In addition, she is USASF and AACCA rules/safety certified. Safety is always a top priority. She was most recently coaching High School cheer, but is extremely excited to be switching gears into coaching the collegiate student athletes at UCSD. Abrina Wheatfall, Assistant Coach
Abrina Wheatfall is an alumni of the University of Oregon where she was an Oregon Duck cheerleader. Abrina choreographed dance routines for the Oregon cheerleaders for 7 years. She brings over 15 years of cheer and dance experience to the Triton cheer squad.
JOINING THE TEAM
We are looking for positive, enthusiastic, and committed students who will help create an energetic atmosphere on GAME DAY as well as university events. UC San Diego Cheer prides itself on teamwork and comradery. We are looking for team players and hard workers to continue growing the Spirit Program.
It is important to remember that college cheerleading is a big commitment. Cheerleaders must attend all practices, conditioning sessions, and assigned games and appearances. Keep in mind that winter quarter particularly is an extremely busy time due to basketball season. Please carefully consider your availability before trying out.
Tentative Practice Schedule:
Dance: 1x a week Stunt: 2x a week Tumbling/Conditioning: Varies
Full Team: Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
Assigned Games: M/W Volleyball, M/W Soccer, M/W Water Polo, Softball, Baseball
Attending our clinic is a great way to prepare for tryouts. Attendees will learn collegiate style dances and cheers. Clinics are open to all enrolled high school and collegiate students. There is a fee per person. A signed waiver of liability must be turned in to participate. A parent signature is required for anyone under 18.
COMING SPRING 2018
Tryouts are open to current full-time UCSD students and high school seniors and transfers admitted to UC San Diego. An audition fee is required to tryout. Only individuals with completed tryout applications will be permitted to tryout.

Does UCSD offer cheer scholarships? No scholarships are presently offered. Adidas generously sponsors some apparel and footwear associated with cheering at UC San Diego.
What are the costs? We fundraise as much as possible to lower the costs. Costs are between $500 - $700 for uniforms, camp, and related fees. Uniforms include a full shell, liner, sports bra, skirt, briefs, poms, shoes, warm-ups, practice gear, and a backpack. Please do not let cost discourage you from trying out, we will work with you on a payment plan if necessary.
