"Who's going to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup?"

|
Grant Bauer - Baseball Junior Economics/Warren College San Carlos, CA (Bellarmine Prep)
"If I
had it my way, the United States would win the tournament but in reality I
think that Spain will win the 2010 World Cup mostly because of their crisp
style of play and their enormous star power. With most of their players playing
in the prestigious European and Spanish leagues, they seem to have a talent
advantage over the remaining teams. Though
they lost to Switzerland in their opening match, the return of injured attacker
Fernando Torres and the skill of midfielder Xavi lead me to believe that they
are the favored country the rest of the way."

Alyssa Newcomer - Women's Soccer Freshman Business/Warren College Aliso Viejo, CA (Aliso Niguel HS)
"My
prediction is that Brazil will end up winning the World Cup because they are
the only team that hasn't suffered from an upset. Most of the other teams who
were believed to be powerhouses have all either lost or tied a game that they
were highly favored to win. These mistakes may have been due to mental lapses
or lack of focus and Brazil has yet to fall under this category, demonstrating
that they are a team to be reckoned with. In addition, the Brazilians have a
deep bench and surplus of talent that they continue to draw from. For this
reason I believe that they will be the World Cup Champions."

Greg LaPorte - Assistant Coach Men's Socer Graduate of Vanderbilt University San Diego, CA
"Brazil... They have the best keeper in the world."

Kasra Sarabakhsh
- Men's Soccer Junior Human Biology/Warren College San Diego, CA (University City HS)
"I think Argentina has the best chance to win this year's
World Cup. The fluidity in their attacks and offense is unmatched and
they always seem to find a way to score. Their best player, Messi, is in
terrific form and it is hard for other teams to stop him from creating and
Argentina from scoring. Their defense is pretty solid too, although it
hasn't been the best. But with the offensive power Argentina has, they should
simply out-score any team they play against."

Kelly Fogarty - Women's Track & Field Junior Human Biology/Sixth College Danville, CA (San Ramon Valley HS)
"I don't know too much, but my friends are pretty into it. I
would have to say Argentina or Portugal because they are among the most
experienced in this competitive field."
