A native of Maryville, Tenn., Miller qualified for the championships after posting a time of 1:19.29 at the L.A. Rock and Roll Half Marathon on October 24. It was her first time competing in a half marathon.

Miller, who runs locally for the Red Hot Racers club team, will be competing unattached this Saturday in Houston. She is one of 44 females that qualified for the event and will be running in a field that features 2008 Olympian Magdalena Lewy Boulet and three-time Olympian Jennifer Rhines.

A member of the Tritons from 2002-06, Miller helped UCSD claim the California Collegiate Athletic Association title as a junior in 2005, finishing fifth overall at the league championships. After placing 20th at the NCAA West Regionals that season, she claimed 88th place at the NCAA Division II National Championships to lead UCSD to a seventh place team finish, the highest in program history.

Miller had a tremendous senior campaign as well, finishing sixth overall at the CCAA Championships, 19th at the West Regionals and 74th at the NCAA National Championships. She stayed on as an assistant coach under Nate Garcia in 2007 and helped lead both programs to back to the National Championships.

After leaving UCSD, Miller continued her racing career, claiming fourth place in the San Diego Dirt Dog Cross Country Series last year. She also posted a time of 2:54.42 in her marathon debut at the California International Marathon in December.

Hosted by the Aramco Houston Half Marathon, Saturday's USATF National Championships will start at 8:00 a.m. local time. For more information on the event, click here.
