LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego Athletics Department announced its third annual All-Academic Team on Tuesday, recognizing the top student on each qualifying team for their performance in the classroom.
To qualify for the award, the student-athletes must be currently enrolled at UCSD and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the 2010 fall quarter. The student-athlete must also have been a member of the team the previous season.
"I was really pleased when we came up with this award and I'm thrilled that we continue to recognize our student-athletes for their performance in the classroom, in addition to their athletic accomplishments," UCSD Director of Athletics Earl W. Edwards said. "That balance between excelling both academically and athletically is really what we're all about."
Recipients of the UC San Diego All-Academic Team award receive a $500 scholarship towards tuition and expenses.
