What's On Tap
With two more victories under its belt, the undefeated and top-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team will return to the court for its final two home games of the regular season this week. The Tritons will host fifth place Chico State on Friday night at 5:30 p.m., before entertaining Cal State Stanislaus at the same time on Saturday. Both of the matchups will be webcast live at ucsdtritons.com, with Craig Elsten calling the action against the Wildcats on Friday and Austin Olson filling in for the clash with the Warriors on Saturday.

For the Record
UCSD enters Friday night's matchup with Chico State sporting a flawless overall record of 22-0 and a perfect 16-0 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association play after picking up wins over Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills last week. The Tritons used a late run to put away the Golden Eagles, 78-63, in front of a women's record crowd of 2,296 on Spirit Night on Friday and then took care of business with a 77-52 victory over the lowly Toros on Saturday. UCSD is closing in on another CCAA regular season title, holding a four and a half game lead over second place Cal State Monterey Bay with six games remaining. Head coach Charity Elliott's squad, which has put together the best start in the history of the conference this season, has already locked up a berth in next month's CCAA Championship Tournament.

CCAA Dominance
With a perfect record and a comfortable lead in the conference standings, UCSD has clearly separated itself from the rest of the CCAA. The Tritons made a huge statement with their win over then-second place Cal State L.A. last week, turning in a dominant second half performance to send the Golden Eagles to their first loss in six games. The Tritons have been virtually unbeatable in conference play for the better part of a calendar year, winning 25 of their last 26 CCAA games dating back to Jan. 27 of last season. UCSD has been especially dominant this season, posting a remarkable scoring margin of +19.3 in conference play. The Tritons' biggest scare of the season came against the team they'll see on Friday night as they needed two overtime periods but still came away with a 97-91 victory at Chico State on Jan. 7.

Not in Our House
As UC San Diego prepares for its final two home games of the regular season this week, its worth noting just how good the Tritons have been at RIMAC Arena this season. The Tritons are a perfect 11-0 on their home floor in 2011-12, posting an average margin of victory of nearly 22 points per game. UCSD, which is averaging 79 points on 46% shooting at home, has registered a double-digit win in all 11 games so far, with its smallest margin of victory coming in an 84-73 win over Cal State East Bay on Jan. 13. The Tritons haven't lost in La Jolla since Jan. 22 of last season (an 82-75 setback to eventual CCAA Champion Cal Poly Pomona), winning 16 straight on their home floor. With the potential to play all three rounds of the CCAA Tournament and the NCAA West Regional in its own building next month, things are stacking up quite nicely for the No. 1 team in the country.

Going Out with A Bang
Senior guard Daisy Feder is having her finest season as a Triton, averaging career-highs of 12.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists through 22 games. She is shooting 35% from the field and 32% from the three-point line and has scored in double figures in 14 of the last 15 games. Feder has been on a tear over the last few weeks, averaging a team-high 16.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists over the last six games. The Santa Monica native continued her recent surge last week, finishing with a game-high 20 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the Tritons' 78-63 triumph over Cal State L.A. She followed that effort with 14 points, two rebounds and three steals in limited action in UCSD's 77-52 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills the following evening. For the week, Feder shot a combined 40% (10-25) from the field and hit 57% (8-of-14) of her three-point tries.

Front and Center
Senior center Lauren Freidenberg had a huge hand in UCSD's Spirit Night victory over Cal State L.A. last week, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She was a very efficient 7-of-9 from the field and hit 3-of-4 at the free throw line to reach double figures for the 15th time in 2011-12. The Seattle native scored 11 of her 17 points in the decisive second half as the Tritons closed the game on a 20-6 run to win going away. For the season, Freidenberg is averaging 12.6 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds through 22 games. She is shooting 54.4% from the field, a figure that also leads the squad.

Scouting the Warriors
Cal State Stanislaus begins the week with an overall record of 5-15 and a 2-14 mark in conference after losing to both San Francisco State (67-64) and Cal Poly Pomona (92-51) at home last week... She was putting up 21.2 points and 9.0 rebounds before becoming academically ineligible last month... Senior guard Jameiz Terrell has helped fill the void, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists... UCSD Inks Two During Early Signing Period
UCSD signed two high school seniors to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, Coach Elliott announced on Monday, Nov. 21. Leeann Alferness, a 6-0 center from Novato, and Taylor Hirz, a 6-2 center from Santa Ana, will join the Tritons as true freshmen in 2012-13. A standout at San Marin High School in Novato, Alferness led the Marin County Athletic League in scoring and rebounding as a junior, while Hirz led Foothill High School to the second round of the CIF-SS playoffs last season.
