STOCKTON, Calif. - Johl Awerkamp once again led the UC San Diego men's volleyball team in kills but the Tritons ran into a hot Pacific squad Saturday night and fell in straight sets at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

Scores went 25-17, 27-25 and 25-16. With its eighth straight loss, UCSD fell to 3-15 overall and 1-12 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Pacific, which also swept UCSD in La Jolla on Feb. 17, is now 6-12 and 4-9.

Pacific led in almost every statistical category, most notably in attack percentage (.395 to .193) and blocks (12 to 4.5). The Tigers had five service aces and 11 errors while the Tritons did not collect any aces but had 10 miscues at the line. UCSD did hold a slight 25-24 advantage in digs.

Awerkamp amassed 10 kills to lead the Tritons in that department for the fourth consecutive match. Fred Stahl hit .462 with seven kills while Vaun Lennon totaled eight kills but also had eight attack errors.

Pacific's Taylor Hughes led all players with 17 kills. He hit .519 and added four digs and four blocks. Florian Gornik had 12 kills while Sean Daley had three aces and seven blocks.

On a six-match road swing, UCSD plays at top-ranked UCLA on Mar. 8 and at UC Santa Barbara on Mar. 9.
