UCSD Moves Up Three Spots, Finishes 10th at So Cal Intercollegiate

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Freshman Marc Herrmann of the UC San Diego golf team fired a two-under 69 in the final round of the Southern California Intercollegiate Tournamen on Tuesday afternoon, helping the Tritons jump up three spots to finish 10th at the competition to which the Tritons play host.

UCSD's 303 in the final round was the third-best team score of the day and the Tritons finished with a three-round total of 941 (316-322-303, +89). Cal State Stanislaus shot 900 (+48) over the three rounds to take the tournament by six strokes over Grand Canyon Univeristy (906, +54).

Herrmann finished the tournament with a two-day total of 232 (79-84-69), good enough for a tie for 21st place. His two-under round on Tuesday was the only under-par round on the day and just the third for the entire tournament.

Lewis Simon tied for 29th-overall, posting a 234 (78-79-77) while Jay Lim tied for 35th with rounds of 76-81-78, 235. Jacob Williams finished at 244 (83-78-83, 60th place) and Skyler Mednick rounded out the competition for the Tritons at 247 (84-84-79, t-63rd).

Alex Marry of Sonoma State won the individual competition at five over 218 (71-73-74). John Perrine (71-78-73, 222) of Wilmington finished four strokes behind and Chris McCracken of CSUS was third with 223 (74-72-77).
