ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The 21st-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis team finished the regular season with a commanding win Sunday, defeating Hawai'i Hilo, 5-0, in Rohnert Park. The Tritons swept in doubles and seniors Samantha Yeung and Krystal Mizuguchi posted the two singles wins needed to clinch the match by decision.

At No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, pairs Melissa Breisacher-Jacquelyn Davis and Tara Vanooteghem-Melinda Chu both defeated their opponents by margins of 8-5. Breisacher and Davis conquered Melanie Viriyapunt and Emelie Laussen for the win at No. 1, while Vanooteghem and Chu beat Hilo's Anna Hamlin and Lindsey Shin at No. 2. Triton duo Laura Wilke and Samantha Yeung dominated Morrisa Kahakui and Chelsea Sato, 8-0, for the victory at No. 3.

After posting three wins in doubles, UCSD needed only two singles victories to close out the match. Yeung and Mizuguchi were the first two to finish, beating their opponents at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Yeung defeated Hamlin 6-1, 6-0, while Mizuguchi wrapped things up, winning by a margin of 6-2, 6-0.

"It was very fitting that senior Sam Yeung was the first one off the court in singles, followed by another senior, Krystal, to clinch the match and end their collegiate careers," said UCSD head coach Liz LaPlante.

UCSD defeated Sonoma State, 7-2, Saturday. With the two late victories to wrap up their schedule, the Tritons ended the regular season with a record of 8-15.
