LOS ANGELES, Calif. - After defeating Cal State L.A. Thursday and Friday in La Jolla, the UC San Diego baseball team couldn't get it done on the road Saturday, falling to the Golden Eagles in both ends of a league doubleheader. Game scores were 5-2 and 3-0 from Reeder Field.

The twin losses dropped UCSD to 28-20 overall and the Tritons finished their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) slate at 26-14. On the hunt for its fourth consecutive league regular season title, UC San Diego is still in first place, ahead of second place Chico State (22-13), which has five CCAA games left to play. Cal State San Bernardino sits in third (21-14), also with five games left.

CSULA improved to 24-18 overall and 20-16 in the CCAA with Saturday's wins.

Cal State L.A. led 3-0 after three innings in Saturday's opener and 2-0 after just one inning of play in the nightcap.

In game one, Scott Liske and Justin Rahn each had three hits. Liske doubled twice, drove in a run and stole a base, while Rahn scored a run and knocked in another. Starting pitcher Greg Selarz (4-4) took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) and 10 hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

For the Golden Eagles, Daniel Duran doubled twice and homered and Nick Rodarte went yard as well. Starter Justin Harr (4-1) went 7.2 innings for the win.

In game two, CSULA's Gabriel Asakura threw a seven inning, complete game gem, surrendering just two hits and striking out eight to hand UCSD its third shutout loss of the season. He had a no-hitter through 5.2 innings.

Spencer Frazier and Danny Susdorf accounted for the Tritons' two hits, both singles. Frazier broke up Asakura's no-hit bid in the top of the sixth. Trevor Scott (4-5) suffered the loss as he allowed three runs (one earned) and five hits over four full innings. Elias Tuma and Tony York held the Golden Eagles scoreless over the final two frames.

Cal State L.A. had six hits, all singles as well. Joe Park was 2-for-3 with a RBI, Jeremy Weber scored twice and Cliff Quick drove in a pair of runs.

UCSD made four errors in the field in game one and another two in the second tilt. CSULA committed two miscues in the first game and none in the second. The Tritons turned three double plays in game two.

Friday night's win over the Golden Eagles assured UCSD a spot in the four-team CCAA Tournament, which will be played at Triton Ballpark May 10-12. The Tritons will be gunning for their fourth straight tourney crown.

UCSD completes its regular season next week with two non-conference games against Grand Canyon, the first on Friday, May 4 (6 p.m.), and the second on Saturday, May 5 (noon). The five senior members of the team will be honored prior to Saturday's contest.
