Howe had a standout performance at the Triton Invitational last weekend, finishing third overall in a stacked men's javelin invitational field. Seeded seventh, the senior from Aptos, Calif. uncorked a big throw of 226'8", which was behind only Mike Hazle of Nike (236'3") and Long Beach State's Benjamin Woodruff (228'3").

Hazle is the defending U.S. javelin champion and claimed the silver medal at the Pan Am Games.

Howe was also named the CCAA Athlete of the Week on March 26 after winning the javelin at the Point Loma Collegiate Open.

Howe will attempt to become a four-time conference javelin champion when he competes in the CCAA Track and Field Championships that begin Thursday on the campus of Cal State L.A. He has already achieved an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark of 229'0" in the event.
