Gaito, Lesovsky Garner Daktronics, Inc. All-America Honors

SAN FRANCISCO - Seniors Kris Lesovsky and Camille Gaito of the No. 24 UC San Diego softball team earned Daktronics, Inc. All-America Honorable Mention honors, it was announced Tuesday.

The pair is competing at the NCAA Division II Softball Championship in Louisville, Ky. as the Tritons attempt to become the first team to repeat as national champions in over 14 years. UCSD (41-21) faces No. 1 Valdosta State (53-4) in its opening game of the tournament at 9:30 a.m.

Lesovsky was also named Daktronics All-America in 2009. This season, the Simi Valley, Calif. native has started every game in center field while leading the Tritons in batting average (.377), runs (51), hits (77) and doubles (13). She's stolen 22 bases on 23 attempts, a career high, and has reached base in 46-percent of her plate appearances.

She will graduate as UCSD's all-time leader in hits, RBI, doubles, walks and runs scored. She holds single-season records for batting average (.446, 2009), walks (46, 2011) and runs (51, 2012); she needs two more hits this year for a single-season school record as well.

Gaito - UCSD's all-time leader in wins, saves, appearances, innings pitched, strikeouts and complete games - is a three-time Daktronics All-American. She earned First Team honors in 2011, in addition to being the West Region Pitcher of the Year.

Gaito is 29-10 this year with a 1.17 ERA in 45 apperances over 257.2 innings. She's 6-2 in the NCAA Tournament thus far, has struck out 32, and has limited batters to a .192 average. Her ERA during the NCAA's stands at 0.66.
