LA JOLLA, Calif. - Six UC San Diego baseball players have been named to American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and/or Daktronics All-West Region teams for their performances during the 2012 season.

Outfielder Danny Susdorf was named to the All-West Region First Team by all three outlets. The ABCA also selected starting pitcher Ryan Goodbrand to its first team, while shortstop Garrett Tuck and relief pitcher Tony York were second team picks. Goodbrand and utility player Nick La Face were named to the Daktronics All-West Region First Team and Tuck and York garnered second team accolades. Goodbrand, Tuck and York were honored as second team picks by the NCBWA.

In addition, Susdorf and third baseman Sam Michaels earned ABCA All-West Region Gold Glove nods for their outstanding defensive play throughout the season.

It is Susdorf's second-straight appearance on all three first teams. Nationally, the junior center fielder ranks first in triples (9), 10th in hits (84), 35th in stolen bases (26) and 50th in batting average (.393) and total bases (119). Among California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) players,  Susdorf is first in hits and runs (51), second in at-bats (214) and steals, third in average, doubles (17), total bases and on-base percentage (.465) and fifth in slugging percentage (.556). A 2012 All-CCAA First Team pick, he holds a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 124 putouts, one assist and no errors.

Tuck, a sophomore in his second season as the Tritons' starting shortstop, is second on the team roster in batting average (.362), at-bats (213), hits (77), on-base percentage (.407) and stolen bases (15). In the CCAA, he ranks fourth in average, hits and steals and nationally he is 11th in sacrifice flies (7) and 39th in hits. He is one of just two Tritons to start all 57 of the team's games. Tuck is a 2012 All-CCAA First Team pick and an All-CCAA Tournament selection. In late April, he was named the NCBWA West Region Player of the Week and is a two-time CCAA Player of the Week this season.

In his first season with the Tritons, Goodbrand is the team's No. 1 starter on the mound. The junior transfer has amassed an 11-0 record, ranking him eighth in the country and tying him for second on UCSD's single season wins list. His 15 starts rank seventh in the nation. He holds a 2.90 ERA with two complete games over a team-high 99.1 innings of work. He has struck out 69 batters, also a team-best. Goodbrand was named the CCAA Co-Newcomer of the Year as well as First Team All-CCAA and All-Tournament at the NCAA West Regional. He has also won CCAA and NCBWA West Region Pitcher of the Week honors.

La Face, who has started all 57 games this season, is UCSD's full-time designated hitter and part-time catcher. The sophomore leads the Tritons in walks (33) and is second in home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.469) and third in on-base percentage (.403). La Face was recently named the Most Outstanding Player of the CCAA Tournament. He was selected to the ABCA and Daktronics All-West Region Second Teams in 2011.

York has spent the majority of the season as UCSD's primary closer. The senior has posted 10 saves, a total that ranks 22nd in the country and second on the school's single season list. He has a stellar 2.10 ERA and a 2-1 record over 30.0 innings in 24 appearances.

Michaels, a junior transfer in his first season as a Triton, played in 47 games with 40 starts at third base. He finished the year with 49 putouts, 77 assists and just five errors, good for a .962 fielding percentage.

The Tritons won their fourth consecutive CCAA regular season and tournament titles in 2012 and advanced to their sixth straight NCAA West Regional.
