SCOUTING CAL BAPTIST
The Lancers concluded the 2011 season at 17-5-1, setting multiple program records and winning their first-ever National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship. UC San Diego holds a 3-0 all-time record over the Lancers heading into this week's meeting.
WHEN WE LAST MET THE LANCERS
The two teams began 2011 in similar fashion with a season-opening match at Triton Soccer Field. Adam Zernik's converted free kick just a minute before halftime proved to be the difference maker in the 2-1 decision in favor of UCSD.
SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART
The Urban Knights will kick off the 2012 season as an official NCAA Division II institution. The institution gained full membership this past July, becoming the first art school in the NCAA. ArtU completed the 2011 season with a 6-11 record. Saturday will be the first time the two teams have met.
A GLANCE AT 2012
The Tritons begin CCAA play with a series of South Division opponents in the month of September featuring Cal State L.A., Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona to name a few. UCSD will take its first trip to Northern California to take on Somona State Oct. 5. The team heads back home to host Cal State L.A. the following week (Oct. 12). UC San Diego's final weekend on Triton Soccer Field will feature Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State the weekend of Oct. 19. CCAA regular season play ends in the Bay Area, where the Tritons will face Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.
