SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE: This Friday's match will not only mark the CCAA conference opening game for the two teams, but it will also account for the Gators' first game of the season. SFSU is coming off an 8-8-2 overall record in 2011, 6-8-2 in conference play. The Gators return the majority of their roster, with only four seniors graduating after last season.

SERIES HISTORY: UCSD holds a 12-3-4 all-time record against the Gators. In the teams' last four meetings, the match has gone past regulation and into overtime minutes twice (Sept. 16, 2011 and Sept. 26, 2010).

WHEN WE LAST MET THE GATORS: Midfielder Jessica Wi, who registered two of the Tritons' 22 shots on the night, scored in the 70th minute to lift the Tritons to a 1-0 victory at Triton Soccer Field. The point and win earned UCSD the top seed going into the 2011 CCAA Championship Tournament.

SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA: The Broncos opened their 2012 campaign with a nonconference victory this past week over Point Loma Nazarene, 2-1 in San Diego. Veronica Ramos and Aneska Alino each scored a goal in the road win. CPP enters CCAA play this Friday at Cal State San Bernardino before heading to Triton Soccer Field.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tritons boast a 30-10-3 record when playing Cal Poly Pomona at the Division II level. In the 2011 regular season, UC San Diego outscored the Broncos 6-0 in two meetings.

WHEN WE LAST MET THE BRONCOS: UC San Diego took care of business, defeating Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 at Triton Soccer Field to wrap up the regular season on a winning note. Gabi Hernandez scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 50th minute and Izzy Pozurama added an insurance goal with less than 10 minutes to play as the Tritons recorded their fifth consecutive victory.

ARMED AND READY: With six goals in last week's season opener, the Triton offense is armed and ready as it heads into conference play. Five of the six goals in the 6-1 victory over Central Washington came in the second half. Cassie Callahan led with back-to-back goals.

IN THE NSCAA: After entering the 2012 campaign at No. 18 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, the Tritons remain in the mix among NCAA Division II teams. As the first week of play concluded, UCSD found itself ranked No. 25 in the nation.
