Dameon Engblom was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego men’s rowing program in October of 2019, returning to where he began his collegiate coaching career.

Most recently, Engblom worked with Triton head coach Geoff Bond at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant coach. The pair go back over 25 years to their time at Berkeley High.

Prior to Engblom’s time in Pennsylvania, he spent four years with Oregon State University. In his first year with the Beavers, they recorded a third-place team finish at the Pac-12 Championships. In 2016, three Beaver crews competed at the IRA National Championships. The following year, the Beavers earned a third-place team finish at Pac-12 Championships and the Varsity 8 concluded the season at the IRA Championships.

In Engblom’s final year with the Beavers, he took on the role of associate head coach/recruiting coordinator.

Before coaching at Oregon State, Engblom started his collegiate coaching career at UC San Diego. While at UC San Diego the first time, he coached the freshmen rowers and also was the Tritons’ recruiting coordinator from 2012-13.

Born and raised in Oregon, Engblom is a 2006 graduate of Sacramento State, earning a bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a minor in Spanish. He graduated from Del Campo High School in 1996.
