SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE: The Gators dropped a 3-2 decision in their season opening match against Notre Dame De Namur this past week. SFSU looks to get one more nonconference match in on Wednesday before cracking into season play Friday when they come to Triton Soccer Field. San Francisco State is coming off a 4-11-1 CCAA record in 2011, and hoping to rebuild after losing nearly half of its 30-man roster as graduating seniors.

WHEN WE LAST MET THE GATORS: UCSD increased its winning streak to three matches as it downed San Francisco State 4-1 on Oct. 28. The Gators were the first team to get on the board during the first half, but were unable to get another shot in the net for the remainder of the game.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tritons hold an 8-4-2 record over San Francisco State in all-time Division II series. UCSD has a 5-0-1 record under the direction of head coach Jon Pascale, outscoring the Gators 10-1 in those six contests.

SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA: Both the Broncos and Tritons earned nonconference wins over Academy of Art this past week, Cal Poly Pomona's came as a 3-1 victory this last Thursday at Kellogg Field. The Broncos then played another home match vs. Point Loma Nazarene, earning a second victory. CPP enters CCAA play this Friday as they head to Cal State San Bernardino before visiting Triton Soccer Field.

WHEN WE LAST MET THE BRONCOS: Midfielder Cory Wolfrom converted a penalty kick in the 39th minute and the Triton defense turned in a stellar performance as they defeated visiting Cal Poly Pomona 1-0 to conclude the 2011 regular season at Triton Soccer Field (Oct. 30).

SERIES HISTORY: UC San Diego holds a 21-8-2 overall record against Cal Poly Pomona. The two teams split the previous two seasons, with an even 2-2 record. Both the Tritons and Broncos earned their victories when playing on home turf.

ON THE LEADER BOARD: Triton goalkeeper Josh Cohen is currently ranked second in the CCAA for saves with 11 after the squad's pair of home matches this past week.

A GLANCE AT 2012: After a stint of CCAA South Division opponents, UCSD will take its first trip to Northern California to take on Somona State Oct. 5. The team heads back home to host Cal State L.A. the following week (Oct. 12). UC San Diego's final weekend on Triton Soccer Field will feature Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State Oct. 19-21. CCAA regular season play ends in the Bay Area, where the Tritons will face Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.
