With three weeks left in the regular season, UC San Diego plays a pair of contending California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) South Division foes this weekend. The Tritons first host division leader Cal State L.A. on Friday evening, before travelling to face third-place Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday. UCSD is two points behind Cal State L.A. in second place, with one game in hand.

UCSD has allowed just four goals in 11 matches this season for a goals-against average of 0.34. That number is well under the CCAA single-season record of 0.63, set by Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2007. The program mark stands at 0.42 from 1990. UCSD is second in the country in the NCAA Division II in the statistical category, behind only Lynn University (0.27). The Tritons have posted five consecutive shutouts, two shy of Cal State Bakersfield's CCAA record of seven in a row during the 1995 season. In all, UCSD's shutout streak is at 502:35 of action over five-plus contests.

UCSD has won three straight and is unbeaten over its last six with a 4-0-2 record. This is the Tritons' longest such stretch since an eight-game run in 2010.

Cal State L.A. swept its two games last weekend to overtake UCSD in the CCAA South standings, posting a pair of 2-1 home victories over Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State, the latter in overtime. Rosario Bras has six goals while strike partner Antti Arvola, a fellow senior and native of Finland, leads in points with 16 (5 G, 6 A). Sophomore Waleed Cassis (0.88 GAA) is the CSULA goalie.

Cal State L.A. took the earlier meeting this season between these teams, 1-0, in Los Angeles on Sept. 14. Antti Arvola scored the decider at 105:04 during the second overtime period. UCSD holds an 11-10-2 edge in the all-time series.

Cal State Dominguez Hills has won three straight by an aggregate score of 9-4, and hosts Cal State San Bernardino on Friday night prior to welcoming UCSD. Jio Santana and Aaron Salazar have four goals apiece and have combined for nine assists, while Miguel Vazquez has a team-best six helpers to go along with a pair of goals. A fourth junior, Trey Mitchell (0.76 GAA), has seen a majority of the minutes in the Toro net. Head coach Joe Flanagan is in his 19th season in charge of the CSUDH men.

UCSD blanked CSUDH, 1-0, at Triton Soccer Field back on Sept. 28 in front of a season-high crowd of 724, the winner coming from Evan Walker in the 22nd minute. Freshman goalkeeper Cameron McElfresh made four saves in earning his first collegiate shutout. The Tritons' all-time record against the Toros stands at 4-15-4.
