LA JOLLA, Calif. - Izzy Pozurama scored twice before a capper by senior Laura Gordon as No. 12 UC San Diego eased past Chico State, 3-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's soccer match on Senior Day at Triton Soccer Field Sunday.

UCSD improved to 11-2-2 overall and 9-2-2 in the CCAA with the victory. Chico State fell to 6-10 overall and 4-9 in conference play.

Now at 29 points, the Tritons thus clinched at least a share of the 2012 CCAA South Division crown, their 11th South title. Through any potential tiebreakers, UCSD is also now assured a return trip to Carson, Nov. 2-4, for the 2012 CCAA Championship. The Tritons have earned 13 straight berths to their conference tournament since joining the CCAA for the 2000 season. They have won it seven times, most recently in 2008.

Pozurama's game-winning opener came at 53:38. Senior midfielder Alexa Enlow crossed from the left end-line and sophomore midfielder Cassie Callahan provided the flicked-back header, with the reigning CCAA Player of the Week nodding home from close range.

Then in the 66th minute, Callahan's shot from the edge of the box hit the crossbar and went up into the air. When it came down, Pozurama was the most alert, reaching the spot first and heading the ball into the back of the net. The sophomore now has six goals on the year, all coming over the last five games, all in Triton wins. Sunday marked her second career two-goal game, and second in three matches.

With Enlow's assist on the opener and Callahan earning credit for helpers on each of the first two goals, the teammates are now equal on six assists apiece to lead UCSD.

Gordon's capper came at the 87:54 mark, as the University of San Francisco transfer cut her defender in toward goal from the left diagonal, freeing herself up to unleash a right-footed blast into the back of the net for her first goal as a Triton.

Seconds prior to the final score of the match, senior Triton defender Mary McWalters came incredibly close to notching her first collegiate goal, her headed attempt saved by sophomore Chico State goalkeeper Brianna Furner.

In a rare occurrence, 26th-year UCSD head coach Brian McManus trotted out a starting 11 of all 10 of his seniors in the field, alongside true freshman goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky. The group was led by fourth-year tri-captains Gabi Hernandez, Hayley Johnson and Ellen Wilson, and also included Fallbrook product Britnee Chesney, Danielle Dixon, Enlow, Gordon, McWalters, Poway native Ellie Nevarez and Jessica Wi. McWalters, out of San Diego's Westview High School, was making her first collegiate start, as was Nevarez, who last appeared in a competitive soccer game on Oct. 25, 2009, before missing the last three seasons through injury.

Brodsky collected eight saves, equalling her single-game high, for her seventh shutout of the season. Furner had five stops for the Wildcats.

UCSD hits the road next weekend to wrap up the regular-season schedule. The Tritons play at Cal State East Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, and Cal State Monterey Bay at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.
