LOS ANGELES -
The UC San Diego men's water polo team fell 13-6 to the well-balanced Bruins of UCLA Sunday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center.
No. 11 UCSD now sits at 9-7 overall, while No. 2 UCLA is 19-2 after extending its win streak to five.
UCLA came out strong, scoring just 16 seconds after winning the opening sprint. The Bruins held the lead from that point on.
Following a scoreless third quarter, UCSD recorded its strongest eight minutes of the game in the fourth, getting goals from Danny Lorch, Luke Syka and Brian Roach.
Cameron Ravanbach and Nick Michels split action as the Tritons' last line of defense. Ravanbach came away with seven saves and Michels added another three.
UCSD returns to Canyonview Aquatic Center on Friday, Oct. 26, to host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 6 p.m. followed by Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
UC San Diego Athletics, in conjunction with the San Diego Food Bank, is taking part in the 2012 Colleges Rock Hunger Campaign for the remainder of the month of October. The initiative provides nourishment for San Diego families in need. Anyone who brings a minimum of two non-perishable food items to a UCSD intercollegiate sporting event will be admitted free of charge.
