Dig For A Cure
Saturday's contest vs. Cal Poly Pomona is this season's "Dig For A Cure" match. Throughout the month of October, each CCAA volleyball program will host a "Dig For A Cure" match to promote breast cancer awareness month. The teams will wear pink warm-up shirts and pink volleyballs will be used to honor those affected by breast cancer.

Elevation
UCSD has moved up one spot in this week's AVCA national poll, climbing from 25th into 24th. The Tritons returned to the poll last week after spending five weeks on the receiving votes list.

Four On the Floor
UCSD has run its current win streak to four matches, its second-longest of the season. Three of the victories came in straight sets against Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills, while the other was a four-set topping of Cal State East Bay. The Tritons won six in a row between Sept. 15 and Oct. 5.

Regarding the Lumberjacks
Humboldt State enters Friday's match at 2-18 overall and winless in the CCAA at 0-13. Last week, the Lumberjacks lost a pair of home matches, 3-1 vs. Chico State and 3-0 against Cal State Stanislaus. The contest against the Warriors was tight, with two of three sets going to extra points. Alexa Rosendale leads Humboldt with a 3.08 kills per set average, while Tiffany McCray has a team-high 4.35 digs per set average. Ashley Neale leads the team with 25 service aces and Allison Drobish ranks third among all CCAA players with her 48 blocks. HSU plays at first-place Cal State San Bernardino Saturday night.

Regarding the Broncos
Cal Poly Pomona, which plays at Cal State San Bernardino Friday before visiting La Jolla on Saturday, enters the week with an even 10-10 overall record. The Broncos are sitting in eighth place in the CCAA at 6-7. CPP split two home matches last week, losing in four to Chico State and sweeping Cal State Stanislaus. Kelly Bonja is fifth in the CCAA in total aces (26), Alexa Hasen ranks sixth in hitting percentage (.315) and Taylr Kreutziger ranks seventh in total blocks (65). Diana Lake leads the team in kills (223) and is second in digs (214). Bonja has a team-best 353 digs. As a team, the Broncos are out-blocking their opponents, 2.09 to 1.89 per set.

Remembering Reis
UCSD family and friends are coming together this season to remember former Triton volleyball player Karen Reis, who was tragically killed in Coronado in January of 2012. A recognition was held prior to the Cal State L.A. match on Sept. 15, at which the Reis family was presented with a "No. 1" jersey and a moment of silence was observed. The Tritons will wear a special insignia on their uniform jerseys all season. In addition, you may notice the "Reis Ripple" graphics on the pole pads at RIMAC Arena. These signify the positive impact that Karen had on everyone she met and how that impact trickled down from one person to another.
