LA JOLLA, Calif. - Sarah Lizotte, the junior unility player for the UC San Diego women's water polo team was named KAP7 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.
The Riverside native is the first member of the Triton roster to receive the weekly honor this season, as the team is just one week into the 2013 campaign. UCSD is currently leading the conference, posting a .750 winning percentage and recently received No. 19 ranks among NCAA Division I programs.
Lizotte compiled 13 goals, five assists and five steals over this past weekends play. Her single-game high came in 11-6 win over conference opponent Sonoma State, where Lizotte posted six goals respectively.
The utility player tallied up another three goals in the win over Santa Clara and then her final four came against No. 17 Cal State Northridge.
Lizotte also received UCSDtritons.com Player of the Week honors for the week on Jan. 28.
The Tritons will take the weekend off as they prepare to host the annual Triton Invitational Feb. 9-10 at Canyonview Pool. The tournament will feature 15 other teams, the majority of which are featured in the ACWPC Top 20.
