PHOENIX, Ariz. - The UC San Diego women's tennis team will leave Arizona on a high note after blanking Dixie State Monday, 9-0, on the final day of play at the Grand Canyon University Duals.

UCSD upped its season mark to 4-1 after giving up just two points in doubles play and winning all six singles matches in straight sets. DSC dropped to 2-8 with its sixth consecutive loss.

Melissa Breisacher was victorious at No. 1 singles, defeating Joy Naigeon by scores of 6-4 and 6-0. Freshman Kyra Scott improved to 4-0 on the season by blanking Paige Nisson at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-0. Paula Chou won the No. 3 match-up against Sierra Smith, 6-0 and 6-1.

Melinda Chu (6-0, 6-1), Tara Vanooteghem (6-1, 6-0) and Jacquelyn Davis (6-0, 6-2) were also winners on the singles ladder at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Vanooteghem kept her perfect singles record intact at 5-0.

UCSD dominated in doubles play to open the match. Breisacher and Scott defeated Naigeon and Nisson, 8-1, at No. 1. Chou and Davis took their No. 2 match over Ashley Anderson and Smith, also by an 8-1 count. At No. 3, Chu and Vanooteghem glided to an 8-0 shutout of Anna Cronquist and Lindsey Jones.

Including today's victory, the Tritons posted a 2-1 mark while in Arizona. They also beat Dominican, 8-1, and fell to second-ranked BYU-Hawaii, 7-2.

Next up, UCSD plays at Division I opponent Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
