LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego women’s water polo goalie Courtney Miller has been named the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week. The announcement was made Wednesday morning.

Miller helped lead No. 15 UCSD to its second consecutive 4-0 week as she totaled 38 saves during San Diego State's Aztec Invitational.

The freshman from Honolulu had 23 stops Sunday, posting 12 in a 10-7 win against No. 11 Indiana and 11 in the final game of the weekend, a 7-4 victory over Bucknell. She also hit double digits with 10 saves in a 7-6 comeback win over No. 13 Cal State Northridge to begin tourney play on Saturday. Miller followed that with a five-save performance against 16th-ranked UC Davis, helping UCSD to a 7-6 win.

Miller, who leads the WWPA with 190 saves, has recorded 10 or more stops in 11 of the Tritons' 22 games. She had a season-high 15 against Santa Clara in her first collegiate game on Jan. 26 at the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invitational.

It is the first WWPA weekly honor for Miller this season. She earned Athlete of the Week accolades on Monday, March 18.

The Tritons are off until they compete at the four-day Hawaii Spring Break Tournament, which will be held March 28-31 in Honolulu. UCSD will face No. 6 San Diego State, No. 2 Stanford, No. 8 Hawaii, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara and Sonoma State.
