Senior Brian Donohoe earns Outstanding Level honors for the fourth consecutive year.
Five Earn ACWPC All-Academic Honors

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men’s water polo team had five student-athletes named as recipients of 2012 All-Academic awards as selected by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). The announcement was made Thursday afternoon.

The All-Academic awards are separated into three tiers based on the overall GPA of student-athletes. An Outstanding level is given to those with a GPA ranging from 3.71 to 4.00, a Superior honor goes to those with a 3.41 to 3.70 and an Excellent rating is bestowed upon those with a GPA between 3.20 and 3.40.

Senior Brian Donohoe earned his fourth ACWPC All-Academic honor, receiving Outstanding merit after posting a 4.0 GPA during the fall of 2012. The history major carries a team-high 3.97 cumulative GPA.

Freshman Tiki Toplak and senior Chris Barton were honored at the Superior level, while sophomore Danny Lorch and junior Tommy Friedrich received Excellent accolades.

Barton, Donohoe, Friedrich and Lorch were also recognized by the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Thursday morning as they were named to the league’s All-Academic Team.
