LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego track and field programs again serve as hosts of the Léon T. Roach III Vault-a-Thon this Saturday, Feb. 1, at Triton Track & Field Stadium. The men's and women's combined pole-vault-only event will commence at 10 a.m.
In its fifth year of existence, the Léon T. Roach III Vault-a-Thon is held to honor the memory of the former UCSD student-athlete who passed away in 2009. Funds raised continue to be directed toward financing ongoing Triton Track & Field Stadium facility improvements.
Featuring an entirely-renovated pole vault area at the stadium that showcases spectator terraces at the facility's south end, the Léon T. Roach III Memorial was dedicated in 2011 in his name by his family during a heartfelt ceremony in the meet's second edition.
Entries are accepted on the day of the competition only, for a fee of just $20. For more information regarding the Léon T. Roach III Vault-a-Thon, or to make a donation, please click here.
The Blue-Gold-Alumni meet will follow the Vault-a-Thon on Saturday, Feb. 8, with the first events slated for an 11:30 a.m. start.
