Weather Alters Weekend Plans for Track & Field Programs
Release: Thursday 02/27/2014

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Due to impending inclement weather up and down the California coast this weekend, the UC San Diego men's and women's track and field programs have withdrawn from this Saturday's Pomona Preview. Triton men's head coach Tony Salerno made the announcement.

UCSD was to take part in its second meet of the 2014 season this Saturday, March 1, with California Collegiate Athletic Association rival Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. San Antonio College co-hosting the event at Mt. SAC's Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut. Weather in the area calls for a 100 percent chance of rain over the course of Friday and Saturday, with thunder also expected.

The Tritons have opted not to participate for safety and other reasons, and will instead focus toward their first of five home meets for 2014, the All-Cal Championships, on Saturday, March 8.
