AS A JUNIOR IN 2007-08: Apeared in 29 games for head coach Chris Carlson last season, coming off the bench in all but two... Was in the starting lineup in UCSD’s first two games of year against San Diego State and Grand Canyon before moving to a reserve role... Finished 2007-08 averaging 4.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per night... Ranked second on the squad in both total rebounds (128) and rebounds per game (4.4)... Was fourth shooting 50.6% for the year, making 41 of his 81 attempts... Hauled in a career-high 12 boards to go with five points in the Tritons’ overtime loss at Cal State L.A. on January 12... That was the most rebounds in a game by a Triton last season... Racked up double-digit boards on two other occasions during the year, pulling down 11 in the 70-51 win over William Jewell December 16 and finishing with 10 in the home victory vs. Humboldt State February 8... Also tallied 10 points in the contest with the Lumberjacks, notching his first career double-double... Was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and finished with 10 points to help lead UCSD to a 69-58 non-conference win over Alaksa Fairbanks on December 6.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006-07:
Played all 27 games during the 2006-07 season with 10 starts on the year... Scored seven points, pulled down three rebounds, and dished out two assists in the 62-52 victory over 4th-ranked Seattle Pacific on November 24... Tallied five points, pulled down six boards, dished out two assists, and had a career-high three steals in the 61-60 victory over No. 2 Montevallo on November 25... Scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 74-67 loss at home to Chico State on December 1... Tied a career-high in points with 16 in the 76-72 win at home over Cal State Stanislaus on December 2... scored a team-high 14 points and tied a career-high with seven rebounds in the 59-54 win at Cal State L.A. on January 12... Had 14 points and seven rebounds in the 69-63 win over No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino on January 19... Netted nine points to go along with eight boards in the 60-54 loss at home to No. 24 Cal Poly Pomona... Grabbed 10 rebounds and scored seven points in the 63-58 win at San Francisco State on January 26... Scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and added a season-high two blocks at Chico State on February 3... Helped UCSD to a victory in front of a raucous Spirit Night crowd with eight points, five rebounds, and one assist... Nearly achieved a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds against Cal State L.A. on February 17... Led the team with 4.2 rebounds per game.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005-06: Started 12 of the 29 games he played in during his rookie season... Scored nine points and added two assists in his first regular season game for the Tritons at Cal Poly on November 18... Notched 15 points and six rebounds at the University of Hawaii on December 17... Scored double-digits during back-to-back games, with 10 points and four rebounds against Cal State Stanislaus on January 6 and 12 points, two rebounds, and one block during the 61-41 win over Chico State January 7... Scored 10 points while shooting 4-for-4 from the field during UCSD’s overtime victory against Cal Poly Pomona on January 21... Racked up 15 points in a season-high 30 minutes of action at Chapman on January 31... Grabbed six rebounds and scored nine points during the Spirit Night win against Cal State L.A. on February 3... Set a career-high in scoring with 16 points with five rebounds in the win over San Francisco State at home on March 3.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of Thousand Oaks High School... Played basketball for head coach Richard Endres... Helped team to an 18-10 record as a senior, advancing to the second round of the CIF playoffs.. TOHS won the Miramonte League Championship his junior year... was a First Team All-Maramonte League selection and a First Team All-Ventura Country honoree... Named the MVP of the Ventura County All-Star Game... Scored 30 points and grabbed 11 boards in the first round of the CIF Playoffs as a senior... Finished with 32 points and seven rebounds in the championship game of the Arroyo Grande Tournament... Was a four-year member of the TOHS Honor Roll... Also a member of the video club and a church volunteer.

Born May 9, 1987 in Thousand Oaks, Calif.... parents are Vince and Joell Poppen... both parents attended Moorpark College... Has a younger brother named Jake... Is an Economics major at Roosevelt College... Aspires to become an businessman, specializing in real estate... Enjoys playing all sports including ping pong, tennis ,and baseball, as well as being with family and friends in his spare time.
