CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The 25th-ranked UC San Diego men’s cross country team had its 2005 season come to an end with its seventh place finish at the NCAA Division II West Regional on Saturday afternoon in Chino Hills, Calif.
Chico State won the NCAA West Regional and was followed by Cal Poly Pomona. Alaska-Anchorage finished third to grab the final NCAA National Championship spot in two weeks on the same course.
Freshman Gabriel LaMothe was the top finisher for the Tritons, finishing 38th in a time of 34:37.20, just 2.3 seconds ahead of senior Carl Lostrom who finished 39th. Jake LeVieux finished 40th, ending his season with a time of 34:39.90 in the 10k race.
Matthew Noble posted a time of 34:42.30 to finish 43rd while Daniel Holligan rounded out the UCSD scoring, finishing 47th with his 34:54.80 time.
Seniors Chris Beetley-Hagler and Luke Sigmon finished their UCSD careers with 56th and 59th place finishes. Beetley-Hagler finished in a time of 35:07.30, 28.4 seconds faster than Sigmon.
