SAN DIEGO - Chris Hansen of the University of California San Diego men's basketball team has been selected as a San Diego Hall of Champions (SDHOC) Star of the Month for December. The Hall's selections were announced Thursday.
Over six games in December, Hansen averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds, both team-bests, to lead UC San Diego to a 5-1 record and its best start to a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season in program history (6-0). The sophomore center also led the Tritons in field goal percentage (.519) and blocks (6).
Hansen scored 20-plus points in three of the six games, including a season-high 24 against CCAA rival Cal State Dominguez Hills. He registered his third double-double of the year with 22 points and 11 rebounds versus 13th-ranked Western Washington.
An economics major from Lafayette, Hansen missed just a single free throw during the month, going 18-for-19, good for a .947 percentage.
Overall this season, Hansen is averaging a team-best 14.8 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds per game for the 15th-ranked Tritons.
