With the split, UCSD moves to 14-8 on the season and 9-7 in conference play. The Pioneers end the weekend with a 11-11 overall record and 7-11 in the CCAA.
“We had a good team win in the first game,” said head coach Patti Gerckens. “We need to close the door and keep scoring every inning to win close games”.
The Tritons scored two runs in the first inning to jump out to a lead they would not relinquish. Junior Kelsi Maday got things started with a two-run bomb over centerfield.
The Pioneers answered in the bottom of the fourth inning when Ali Cerminara doubled to bring in a run.

CSUEB used a big fifth inning, scoring four runs, to come from behind and ultimately seal the win.
The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning. Weisner hit an RBI single to bring home junior Lauren Sanders to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead.
UCSD extended its lead to two in the top of the fifth inning. Woken scored on a sacrifice bunt from junior Kendall Baker. The Pioneers answered in the bottom of the inning with four runs to take over the lead, 5-2. A double from CSUEBs’ Courtney Leyba brought in three runs.
The Pioneers’ Cerminara homered to make it a 6-2 game in the sixth inning. UCSD answered with a home run from Sanders in the seventh inning, however, it wasn’t enough as CSUEB escaped with the win.
