April begins with a bang for UC San Diego's men's and women's rowing teams as they compete at the two-day, 44th Annual San Diego Crew Classic, the largest spring regatta in the United States. Boats will be hitting the water on both Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2.
The event will include not only collegiate races, but high school (juniors), masters, alumni and many other divisions as well. The Crew Classic will start with the Men's V8 American Specialty Health Cal Cup Heat A at 7:20 a.m on Saturday. For a complete schedule of events, click here.
General admission to the San Diego Crew Classic is $12. Children under 12 and active military with ID will be let in for free. For more information, click here.
Free public parking will be available at Ski Beach. Shuttles will run on Saturday and Sunday from the parking area to the main gates of the competition area starting at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m on Saturday and 5:00 p.m on Sunday. The San Diego Crew Classic has also teamed up with ride service Uber, offering a special promo code for event attendees. For more information, click here.

A LOOK BACK TO 2016
At the 2016 San Diego Crew Classic, the Triton women finished fourth in the Varsity 4 Petite Final and sixth at the Novice 8 Grand Final. A full recap can be found here.
The men finished with a pair of second-place finishes in the Second Varsity Petite and Third Varsity 8 Grand Finals. For a full recap, click here.
THE SEASON SO FAR
Early in the season, the men's rowing team placed first in the Open 8 event at the annual Row For The Cure. 2017 began with a tie-breaker victory over city rival, USD at the San Diego City Champioships. Not long after, the Tritons took home the 2017 UC Cup after a comeback rally that edged out UC Davis in the final leg of the race.
To begin the season, the Triton women placed fifth in the Open 8 at the Row For The Cure . At the San Diego Fall classic, they placed a boat in sixth at the Open 8 event also. Most recently, the women beat out Humboldt State, Orange Coast College, UC Irvine and Long Beach State to capture the 2017 Berg Cup in Orange County.
After the Classic, the UCSD men will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., where they will once again vie for the Kerr Cup on April 15. The women remain on the West Coast and travel to Lowell, Ore., for the Covered Bridge Regatta on April 15.
