Jaye Loyd was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego women's volleyball program on April 5, 2017.
Loyd joined the Tritons following two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While with the 49ers, Loyd coordinated all domestic and international recruiting efforts and provided on-court training of setters, passers and defenders.
Prior to UNC Charlotte, Loyd spent several years at Tulane University in New Orleans. An assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, she helped lead the Green Wave to an impressive 28-4 mark during her first year. Over her time with the indoor program, Tulane produced two All-Americans and three All-Conference USA First Team selections, as well as a league Setter of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
From 2011-13, Loyd served as the Director of Volleyball Operations as well as an assistant coach with Tulane's sand team, which boasted a No. 10 national ranking in 2013. As the Interim Head Sand Volleyball Coach in 2012, she led the program to its first-ever victory.
Loyd was an assistant coach at Nicholls State University in Louisiana for the 2010 season, where she designed and implemented a strength and conditioning program. The Colonels led the Southland Conference and ranked 20th nationally in digs per set.
She was the High Performance Coach for the USA Volleyball Delta Region team in Arkansas and has also been the head coach for Louisiana club squads NOLA and Cajun Wave.
A defensive specialist and setter, Loyd played four years of collegiate volleyball, the first three at the University of Tennessee. She helped lead the Volunteers to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2006 and 2008 and was an SEC Scholar-Athlete.
Loyd completed her college career in 2009 at Tulane. The Green Wave qualified for the NCAA Tournament that season.
Loyd earned a bachelor's degree in English from Tennessee in 2010 and a master's in professional studies from Tulane in 2013.
A native of Stockton, Calif., Loyd graduated from St. Mary's High School.
